The club has been at this location for some 30 years. During this time, we have collaborated with Forest Preserve District of DuPage County (FPDDC) on field improvements and maintenance, making this field one of the best small flying fields in DuPage County. This includes adding a paved 200' runway, impound stand, starting stands, safety fence, and covered benches for spectators, and a pavilion.
The club has a great working relationship with FPDDC. We take great pride in this and its accomplishments. As part of this relationship, we self-police and inform all flyers on the rules and regulations governing flight activities at the field.
To fly at Springbrook Prairie Model Aircraft Field and other FPDDC fields, you will need a FPDDC Model Aircraft Permit. FPDDC requires proof of insurance for their permit, such as provided by an Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) adult/full membership. You are invited to come out and watch us fly during the flying season. Ask any questions you may have. We are always ready to help prospective pilots to safely get started in the hobby. During the flying season, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons are club training days.
